one month

Carter is one month old today. How in the world did that happen so fast? And how in the world has he not just been here always? 

Being this boy's mother happens to be the best thing in the entire world. He is so curious and alert all the time, to the point that he fights napping because he wants to see what's going on always. At the same time, he's so good at sleeping at night in between feedings. But as soon as the sun comes up and he can see the world again... he is not having any of this being in his bed nonsense. Luckily I can coax him back to sleep on my chest for another hour or so. When he's awake in the day, he insists on sitting up and looking around everywhere. He holds his head up like a champ. 

He's already grown so much! He's been having a little growth spurt lately and eating voraciously ALL THE TIME. It seems to be calming down a bit though, luckily for me. Feeding every hour was kind of out of control. He's been a great eater so far. My favorite thing is to watch his little feet stick out of his nightgown and flex while he eats. Or my favorite thing is his funny faces while he wakes up. Or it's how kissable his face is. Or his little grunts. Or his pursed lips when he's filling his diaper. How can I choose?!?!?

Happy one month little man. I love this mothering thing. I love you.
